California Travel Nurse

Jennifer is excited to start her California Travel Nurse assignment. California (The Golden State) requires her to have a nurse license for that state. The official website to obtain a California license is www.rn.ca.gov. Jennifer is impressed by the website and how easy it is to access information quickly.

Here is our overview:

She can apply online but certain conditions are required. Documents that are needed can be downloaded from the website. She finds out that fingerprinting is also required. California is not part of nursys (an online website that verifies nurse license).

California is not part of NLC(Nurse License Compact), which means Jennifer cannot transfer her license from another State. There is also a procedure in place for a temporary license. This allows her to practice nursing while waiting for her state license.

The board responsible for nurse licensing in California is called “ The California Board of Registered Nursing” (BRN)
