Canadian Nurse TN Visa Question

Thank you SO much for this website! My fiancé is mid-way in the process of becoming an American Travel Nurse. He is a Canadian Nurse and works in ICU and NICU, and will be looking for assignments in the United States possibly California.

What a process!



He is just about ready to take his exam for the states, and has sent in most paperwork for the TN Visa, and paid all fees.



We have one big question with all the good/bad stories out there - with a TN Visa, can he work at another non-nursing job in the U.S.



Does a TN Visa, limit you to travel nurse jobs only?

The short answer is yes. Your TN visa is specific to one nursing job. We have known nurses who have changed jobs and been deported. If this happens you are required to leave the US within a short time frame. I believe it is 24 hours. Do not take that chance as it is doubtful you would be able to work in the US again.
