New York Travel Nurse

Steve, a Nurse Practitioner, chooses the “empire state” for his travel nurse assignment. A New York Travel Nurse requires a special nurse license to work in New York. A link to the official website is at the bottom of the page.

Nurse License Overview

Steve must send in his authentic credentials (original documents) to the license board. He must supply his social security number. If he did not have a social security number he would be assigned a random computer generated 9-digit number to identify his application.

Steve needs to send in his passport and his signature must be notarized. New York is not part of Nursys or the NLC nurse license compact.

A Travel Nurse must complete a special course and or training in identification and reporting of child abuse (mandatory CEU’s).

Education in infection control, barrier precautions, prevention of HIV transmission and Hepatitis virus is mandatory. Information on training is available at the New York State of Health, Bureau of Communicable Disease Control in Albany
