Nurse Cover Letter

Your nurse cover letter should be the introductory “meeting” an employer has with you. The cover letter must be perfectly typed and contain no spelling errors.

Always write the cover letter after you have researched the employer. Your cover letter should always be written to a specific person; never address a letter “Dear Sir or Madam”. If necessary phone your potential employer and find out who your letter should be addressed to.

The Internet and job boards have changed the way a travel nurse applies for jobs. Your cover letter will help you stand out among those competitors who do not take the time to add a cover letter with their nurse resume.

All employers want and require nurses with excellent communication skills. Your cover letter will demonstrate both your writing skills and personality without jeopardizing the professional presentation of your qualifications.

Jane Doe, Nurse Recruiter
Orlando Hospital
50 East Street
Orlando, Florida
32207-2714

Dear Ms. Doe,

I am writing to express my interest in serving as an RN at Orlando Hospital. I am excited to be returning home, close to family and friends.

I worked at Orlando Hospital as a travel nurse in the 1990’s. I left on great terms and have outstanding references which I can supply you with. I would love to come back and pursue a full time career.

As you can see from my resume, my background is in the Emergency Department. I am seeking a full-time position. I am flexible as to the shifts and days I work. I have excellent letters of reference from my travel nurse experience, in addition to a fine reputation I left behind when I worked in California.

My husband has been transferred to Orlando with his company and I will join him next week. I will stop by your office next Monday between 1:00 P.M. and 2:00 P.M. to fill out your formal application. If you could take a few moments to see me at this time, I would be very grateful. I will call you Friday to see if this can be arranged.

Thank you for your attention. I am excited about the possibility of returning to Orlando Hospital.

Sincerely,
