Nurse Interview
1. Eighty five percent of the verbal content of a nurse interview will be forgotten within an hour after you leave. Your overall impression, documents submitted, and a few notes are what stays behind.
2. Remember that the interview is an informal meeting to determine if your background fits your needs and those of your prospective employer.
3. Arrive at least 20 minutes early. If you are traveling a distance, consider getting to know the area a day ahead of time.
4. Dress appropriately. Be businesslike, approachable, and confident in your appearance. No gum, candy or cigarette smell. No heavy scents.
5. Shut off cell phones or any other portable devices. If possible do not take these devices into the meeting.

6. Do research on the employer. If necessary, ask for a company information package after the meeting has been arranged.
Review mission statements. This will give you an idea about the institution/community.
If possible, talk with someone who works at the facility.
7. Prepare and practice responses to likely travel nurse questions. 8. Make sure you bring a few extra copies of your nurse resume to the meeting. I once went to an interview and the HR department misplaced my resume. They realized the mistake and asked me if I had an extra copy. They were impressed when I did and that good deed, may have helped me get the job. 8. Interview questions will be added to this page in the near future.
