Nursing and Travel

Nursing and travel is a way of life. Your TRAVEL NURSE BUDGET needs to be effective. Travel Nurse Solutions like creating an effective budget gives you control over your finances and your life. The title “Nursing and Travel” highlights the fact that as a traveler your budget needs to be flexible."Wish for the best plan for the worst".

We have customized a excel template for travel nursing. At the bottom of this article you will see the instructions to order a template.

Five Steps For Budgeting

1.Keep It Simple. Later once you get the hang of it you can ad more details. Keep a daily travel diary and enter your daily expenses including cash.

2.Set aside the week of the fifteenth of each month to review your travel nurse budget. Let this newsletter be a gentle reminder and coach you along. Each month we will be discussing ways to save money while traveling.

3.Calculate Your Monthly Income. Most contracts are thirteen week contracts and many times you are without income before and after a assignment.( Calculate monthly income tax and other deductions. Your monthly income should reflect what you have left to cover expenses.

Monthly Salary Calculation

Paid weekly multiply by 52 Divide by 12

Paid every two weeks times 26 Divide by 12

Paid twice a month times 24 divide by 12 Paid every 3 weeks 17.34 times 12

Include other sources of income like interest, alimony, or child support.

4. Expenses

Estimate your expenses as far ahead as possible. We have left spaces on our template for extra expenses.

Starting out print out the template (instructions at the bottom of the page) and use an old fashion pencil and eraser. Later you can use the computer.

Do not worry about getting the estimates perfect.

5. Actual Expenses

Keep receipts in a large envelope and ad what you spent at least once a month. Change your estimate to the actual cost.

I keep a diary while nursing and traveling. I list my purchase’s including cash in when I update the diary.

Once you are comfortable doing this manually start using the excel template which will automate your budget. Click here and request our excel budget template.
